Former NFL offensive lineman, turned author, turned podcast enthusiast Geoff Schwartz joined Outkick The Coverage to talk about the enigmatic phenomenon and patriarch of what could soon be basketball’s royal family.
Schwartz thinks the tabloid darling LaVar, who’s hot takes have covered the globe with quotes the likes of Lonzo being better than Steph Curry, his sons worth $1 billion in shoe deals, and himself beating Michael Jordan 1-on-1, is actually damaging his family’s potential livelihood.
“If he got drafted by the Lakers can you imagine having to deal with him all the time?” Schwarz said. “I never thought in my life that a player’s father could hurt someone’s draft status.”
Even though none of his sons have publicly distanced or clarified themselves from any of their father’s comments, Schwartz says he would make sure his father cut the profound and borderline absurd soundbites out.
“If it was my Dad I would say, ‘hey, you got to just stop,’” he said. “I think he’s insane.”
