First Execution In Ohio In Three Years

(Lucasville, OH)  A convicted child killer is dead marking the first person to be executed in Ohio since 2014.

Ronald Phillips was executed by lethal injection Wednesday morning. State prison officials say there were no complications with a new three-drug combination used in the procedure.

He was sentenced to death for the 1993 rape and killing of his girlfriend's three-year-old daughter.  Phillips time of death was marked as 10:43 a.m., about ten minutes after he gave his final statement apologizing to the girl's family saying, quote "Sheila Marie didn't deserve what I did to her."
