This is just some self back-patting.
SI's Rob Mahoney has five deals he'd like to see agreed upon before Thursday's trade deadline.
His first proposal is Greg Monroe to the Thunder. Hey! I did that three weeks ago!
Detroit & OKC: Kendrick Perkins, Jeremy Lamb for Monroe and Rodney Stuckey.
Everyone who covers the NBA is joyous that Perk no longer starts for OKC. He's Detroit's backup center for the next two years. I've liked Lamb since UConn. Possibly a very workable 2 guard. OKC recoups what they lost in Harden, just at another position.
Mahoney's transaction is a bit more elaborate than mine, but I still emphatically approve. Though I can't fathom the thrifty Thunder giving up Lamb, the emerging Jones AND project center Steven Adams AND their '15 first, low as that may be.
Thunder acquire: Greg Monroe, Rodney Stuckey, and Kyle Singler
Pistons acquire: Jeremy Lamb, Steven Adams, Perry Jones, Kendrick Perkins, and an unprotected 2015 first round pick.
My deal may have been a little light on the return for Monroe, but again, I'm of the thinking that his or Smith's departure instantly improves the Pistons a noticeable amount.
There's also no way Greg Monroe is a max contract player either. The 4 and 40ish numbers that have been going around may be my ceiling for a player who may have already reached his.
Monroe + Stuckey = Perkins + Lamb + OKC's possession of '14s top 20 protected Mavericks pick (sits at 23 currently).
I'm a content Pistons observer!
