Mayor Requests Funds For LED Street Lights

TOLEDO, Ohio - Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson is putting forth a plan to update Toledo's street lights with LED technology.

The Mayor is requesting $400,000 for the plan that would convert the city's street lights over to LED bulbs.

“Bringing LED lights to the city will help it become a SMART city and innovative city. By embracing new technology, the citizens of Toledo will improve lighting levels and safety in our neighborhoods,” says Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson.

The administration requested authorization to enter into a professional services agreement with Palmer Energy and Luna Energy Partners to determine the best way forward to convert city street lights to use LED technology.  In addition, Palmer Energy and Luna Energy Partners are requested to prepare a cost benefit analysis for additional “smart technologies” associated with lighting upgrades.
