TBG Headed to Metroparks Control

(Toledo, OH) City officials begin the official process of handing over Toledo Botanical Garden to the Metroparks.

The Toledo Metroparks has been operating TBG since mid-2017, but legislation before Toledo City Council actually gives the park agency 50 acres of land to manage. The botanical garden started more than 50 years ago with the donation of private land to Toledo, establishing Crosby Gardens.

But the Elmer Drive site will become the newest urban metropark once its officially under Metroparks management.

Officials on both sides of the transaction have assured the public visitors should only see subtle changes to the grounds abiding by the park’s original mission of serving as a center for horticulture, the arts, and nature.
