Kaptur Becomes Longest-Serving Woman In U.S. House

(Washington, DC)   Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur is being honored for a record of longevity in Washington.  

A ceremony Wednesday recognized the Toledo Democrat as the longest-serving woman in the U.S. House.  Kaptur is serving her 36th year in Congress with plans to seek a 19th term in November.

Kaptur told Bloomberg News that next Congressional race will be much easier than a much easier race than what she admits was her toughest-- against then-fellow Democratic congressman Dennis Kucinich following redistricting by statewide Republicans.

Congresswoman Kaptur, in the same interview called the fight against NAFTA in the 1990's her toughest issue in her Capitol Hill career, but expressed hope President Trump will make good on his promise for a better trade deal.
