Glass City Marathon This Weekend

(Toledo, OH)   Don't expect any race records this year, because training has been hampered by an extended winter. But thousands of runners will hit the streets this weekend for the Glass City Marathon.

The weekend full of running events gets underway Saturday with  the Glass City 5K, followed by Sunday's triple-header: the marathon, half-marathon, and five-person marathon relay.

Expect a lot of road closures throughout the weekend because of the race course, which runs from the University of Toledo through West Toledo, Ottawa Hills, Sylvania, and Sylvania Township and back to campus.

The 26-mile run Sunday will take runners from the University of Toledo through Wildwood Metropark, Olander Park in Sylvania and the University Parks Trail before ending at the Glass Bowl.

Spectators are being welcomed along the course to cheer on the 9,000 runners expected.
