Grandparent Opiate Summit at Penta Career Center

(Perrysburg Twp., OH) Grandparents raising young children because of the opiate crisis get some help today.

The Wood County Committee on Aging is hosting a workshop on the opiate crisis specifically aimed at people over the age of 60. Many grandparents find themselves raising children yet again because their own kids got addicted to prescription painkillers or heroin-- and they're the last line of defense in a better future for their grandkids.

Grandparents are in a tough spot, because many want to help their own kids but only fuel the drug dependency by giving them money or other assistance-- and must separate themselves from that notion to raise the grandkids instead.

Naloxone training and distribution also will be part of the workshop at Penta Career Center that runs from noon to 5 p.m.
