Wood Co. Seeks More Landfill Space

(Bowling Green, OH) Wood County Commissioners are asking state environmental regulators for permission to expand a local landfill.

Wood County commissioners want another 59 acres of landfill space, which currently only has about six years left. The expansion could give the landfill enough room to operate for another century.

Recycling will still be an important strategy to extend the life of the landfill-- so Wood County officials introduced mixed recycling bins earlier this summer to make it easier for residents.

There's no word yet on how well those drop-off sites are doing, because most Wood County communities don't offer curbside recycling like many bigger cities do.
