I started watching "The American Meme" on Netflix from producer and filmmaker Bert Marcus. I have still need to finish it, but find it interesting to hear from these people that have become known through digital and social platforms. Interesting to see them tie this concept of fame to Paris Hilton. Paris really shot to fame when she and her friend Nicole Richie did that show "The Simple Life". There have been famous people before, but Paris is maybe one of the first ones to be known through non traditional means. Meaning she wasn't a singer or major movie actress. She was just famous. Much like the Kardashians are now.
