After four years in midnight blue and gold, Rocket quarterback Logan Woodside will now be sporting orange and black.
Woodside was drafted Saturday in the seventh round by the Cincinnati Bengals with the 249th overall pick.
"I'm just feeling a lot of excitement and enjoyment right now," Woodside said. "I've always wanted to be able to play near home, and to be drafted by the Bengals is a dream come true."
The Franfort, Kentucky native becomes the first Rocket quarterback to be drafted since Bruce Gradkowski in 2006 and the fourth Rocket to be drafted in the last two years (Kareem Hunt, Michael Roberts, Treyvon Hester).
Five more Rockets will get the chance to extend their playing careers into the NFL as well by signing free agent contracts. Defensive end Olasunkanmi Adeniyi signed a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Offensive linesman Elijah Nkansah was signed by the Tennessee Titans. Defensive back Trevon Mathis signed with the Minnesota Vikings. Offensive linesman Brant Weiss inked a deal with the Arizona Cardinals and running back Terry Swanson received a contract with the Houston Texans.
