Walleye Wednesday With Watty

The National Hockey League is usually the gold standard of professional sports when it comes to avoiding controversy. Recently however, former players have shared their terrifying experiences growing up in locker rooms governed by toxic, "old school" hockey culture.

Former Stanley Cup Champion and Olympic Gold Medal winning coach, Mike Babcock, was just recently fired for the way he runs his programs. His former assistant coach, Bill Peters, was just fired from the Calgary Flames for abusing players. Current Chicago Blackhawks assistant, Marc Crawford, has been suspended indefinitely while he's investigated for similar allegations.

The biggest hurdle the NHL faces right now, is discerning the difference between tough coaching and mental abuse.

In honor of Walleye Wednesday, Dan Watson joined Anthony Bellino on the Fox Sports Morning Blitz for a mid-season update and to share his experience growing up in the "old school" hockey world, and how that influenced his coaching style.
