Tulsi Gabbard: Kamala Harris Isn't Qualified to Serve as Commander in Chief

Democratic Presidential Hopefuls Attend AARP Candidate Forums In Iowa
Tulsi Gabbard: “Kamala Harris is not qualified to serve as Commander in Chief and I can say this from a personal perspective as a soldier. She has no background or experience in foreign policy and she lacks the temperament that is necessary for Commander in Chief. I have seen the cost of war first hand and experienced the consequences of what happens when we have presidents from both political parties in the White House who lack experience and lack that foreign policy understanding, who therefore fall under the influence of the foreign policy establishments and military industrial complex. This is what is so dangerous and what we’ve seen over time.”

Democratic Presidential hopeful Tulsi Gabbard threw shade at one of the races biggest frontrunners on Tuesday, as the U.S. Representative for Hawaii’s 2nd congressional district joined Fox Sports Radio’s Outkick The Coverage With Clay Travis.

Rep. Gabbard called out California Senator Kamala Harris, saying Harris ‘is not qualified to serve as Commander in Chief’, and adding ‘she has no background or experience in foreign policy and she lacks the temperament that is necessary for Commander in Chief’.

Gabbard cited her experience as soldier as she listed in the Hawaii Army National Guard in April of 2003 while serving in the State Legislature.

She notably served a 12-month tour in Iraq from July 2004 to July 2005 as a specialist medic, before later being deployed to Kuwait from 2008 to 2009.

In 2015, Gabbard was promoted from captain to major.

Harris, whose enjoyed a steady surge in the polls the last month, was quickly defended by a spokesperson of her campaign.

Campaign communications director Lily Adams said of Gabbard: “Definite hard pass on taking national security advice from Assad’s cheerleader", alluding to Gabbard’s comments earlier this year when she said Syrian President Bashar al-Assad ‘Is not an enemy of the United States because Syria does not pose a direct threat to the United States.’

The second round of Democratic debates will begin on July 30th and 31st, with Harris and Gabbard expected to share the stage on the 31st.
